Portrush Lifeboat Completes the Belfast Marathon

Going strong!
On the 2nd May three brave teams from Portrush Lifeboat set sail for Belfast to take part in the Belfast Marathon to raise funds for the station. Roadside Garages in Coleraine sponsored a coach from Milliken Travel in Ballymoney to take the teams to and from the event.

At the finish line

The teams (one male, one female, one mixed) all finished in respectable times and have raised £1,440!

The atmosphere on the day was great and the staff from RNLI HQ organised a lunch and prize giving for all lifeboat crews who took part. The Female Team actually won "Most Glamorous Team" - although the Male Team reckoned that the competition was slim!

The crew and fund raising teams have every intention of entering next year and it would be anticipated that supporters would join the teams as cheerleaders and moral support!

The Teams and Crew would like to thank everyone who sponsored them including David Boyd from Roadside Garages, family, friends and the RNLI Crew from HQ who provided very fetching vests and a great lunch! Our brave teams say they will be entering again next year!

Finally congratulations to Crew Member Greg Lockhart who entered and completed the West Bay Swim on Sunday 4th June.
